News & Highlights

The following are the changes that have been made for orphans at the current time.

  1. “No one can replace or put in substitute the love and affection of a mother for her child.” Keeping in view this humble thought, Wal Asr Imamia Trust WAIT ® (Shia Orphanage) decided to relocate the mothers of orphans under 18 years of age from their hometowns to Delhi. This humble decision would provide a feeling of family to the orphans.  Earlier these tender-aged children used to remember their mothers. Most of them were not taking an interest in any activities (educational, social, or extracurricular). Hence it became necessary to provide them with the love and affection of their mothers.
  2. During the COVID-19 pandemic, it could be almost impossible to maintain social distancing among these children. In other words, our decision to provide separate rented accommodation to each family of orphans was timely and appropriate. Keeping in view of COVID-19, we used to provide packed food to the mothers, and siblings of the orphans which is being followed to date. In this way, the Nazar, Tabarrukat, and other kinds of help by the Momeneen are provided to the Mustaheqeen (orphans, mothers, and siblings of the family) of the community.
  3. A rented accommodation near the Wal Asr Imamia Trust WAIT has been provided to each family of orphans, which includes the mothers of orphans and siblings. The orphans under 18 years of age now stay in these accommodations along with their mothers under the guidance of Wal Asr Imamia Trust WAIT.
  4. This provides them a combination of both the love and affection of their mothers and the guidance of WAIT.
  5. WAIT ® is taking care of these children residing in the neighborhood of Shia Orphanage with their mothers and other siblings as well. The rent of the houses is paid by WAIT ®. It is significant to discuss here that WAIT ® has been bearing all the educational expenses, food, clothes, health, and other expenses of the orphans as well as their siblings along with the expenses of their mothers too.
  6. The mothers (widows) of the orphans are very poor (financially and socially) and are not literate. They are not in a condition to bear these expenses. Hence it became necessary to support them too.
  7. It is also significant to bring it to your kind notice that WAIT ® is bearing all the expenses of the sisters of the orphans too, residing in the locality of Shia Orphanage with their mothers.
  8. Currently, 15 mothers have already relocated and reside in the surroundings of the Shia Orphanage and children continue to receive help, education, and all other benefits.
  9. All these children do not have their fathers.
  10. This decision has been taken for children under the age of 18. Those, who have already attained the age of 18, stay in the premises of Wal Asr Imamia Trust WAIT. At present, we have the capacity of 16 orphans (above 18 years of age) in the WAIT premises and we have 4 such orphans.
  11. The vacant area in which under 18 orphans used to stay, has now been converted into a library. We have put a collection of books in this library and are planning to add more. Anyone, including the Momeneen of Sewak Park and any other part of Delhi/NCR, can come and read these books.
  12. Earlier 35-40 orphans of all age groups used to live on the premises of Shia Orphanage, Sewak Park, Dwarka Mor.
  13. Shia Orphanage has been set up with the sole purpose of serving the orphans of the Shia Community only and it is doing so without any changes.
  14. Shia Orphanage has always been operational and carrying on with its regular activities only for Shia Orphan children.
  15. There are 45 Shia Orphan children (25 boys and 20 girls) at present and each child's details are given on the website: https://shiaorphanage.org/index.php
  16. Any sponsor from the community who wants to visit the premises is most welcome.
  17. Any community member can also pay a surprise visit or schedule a visit by appointment. Either way is suitable and comfortable for Orphanage management.
  18. Any community member who wants to visit and interact with the children is also welcome.
  19. Last but not least Shia Orphanage needs our community's, love, affection, guidance, dua, and full support. Support us to help Children of our own community to make their future better.
